The world he knew was gone. Friends, family, places he hung out...almost all of it vanished as quickly as blinking. By the time he had woken up in the hospital, only monsters remained. Though there were occasionally friendly demons such as Pixie, others were less so, hungry for his flesh. And even after escaping, all that awaited him were ruined buildings and a vast desert. Humanity was seemingly gone.

As he walked past the park, still journeying with the Pixie companion he had, he saw a figure wandering about. Seemed human enough? Naoki wanted to believe someone was alive.  Maybe there were more survivors than he originally thought. Carefully he approached them, taking slow steps behind them. At a decent enough distance, he finally called out.

"Hey! You're human, right?"

WARNING: The following will spoil the plot of SMT Nocturne!

Race: half-fiend, half-human
Alignment: Neutral
Age: 18

Story:

Naoki Kashima was originally a high school student, and was going to visit his teacher with his two friends: Chiaki and Isamu. However, during the hospital visit, he uncovered Hikawa dabbling with demon magic. His teacher saves him, but has him witness the end of the world, with the only survivors being inside of the hospital. All other humans are just turned into spirits, while the world outside is filled with destroyed buildings and endless sand, all while the Kagutsuchi seems to act like a sun. Afterwards, he was approached by a kid and what he assumed was his nanny. They gift him the Magatama, which goes through his eye in a painful transformation, creating the Demi-Fiend. Left hurt, confused, and realizing he has to kill demons to survive while also recruiting them, he tries his best to survive in this world, find his friends, and figure out how to undo the nightmare of this Apocalypse.

During his journey, he is unable to protect his friends despite finding them, mainly because they want to find their own path, and their goals do not align. This is made worse when they make their own pacts with demons, turning into demons similar to that of Naoki, and their attitudes changing completely. Unable to stomach the thought of killing his only friends, Naoki fails to stop them from killing many people, even finding himself used by Isamu. The experience left him bitter and angry, thoughts turning to just doing what Lucifer wants. Eventually, through some help with his own demons, including Dante of Devil May Cry, he shakes off the idea off.

He also witnessed a lot of death, which he was always unable to prevent. The first of which was his teacher, forcefully sacrificed by Hikawa. The second was Hijiri, watching his former comrade turn on him, only for Isamu to capture and sacrifice the man when Naoki refused to kill Hijiri, trying his best to value life if helped. Naoki has since tried to not let this weakness tie him down, hand always ready to blast those that would turn down his offer. It's only through these harsh experience that made him harden, but also keep hope alive.

The finale of the game in the Neutral Ending is the best example of this, as he is forced to kill his friends in order to revert the world back to normal. Through help from his demonic allies, he is able to do it, defeat his former friends and return the world to normal from before Hikawa began the Conception. This would mean everyone who died in the previous world did not die at all, having no memories, except for Naoki, and strangely his teacher. He is aware of the existence of YHVH, but refuses to sacrifice people to accomplish that goal. He believes the humans that were killed in the Apocalypse deserve a chance of life of their own. True, he saw the worst in his own friends, but he also knows them at their best as well. Without that kind of hope, he cannot function, and likely would have joined Lucifer in destroying his world for the sake of fighting YHVH.

[A month had passed, and Naoki rarely came out anymore, mindful of the scar still on his back. It was far better than it was, but it hadn't fully healed, making the tattoos on his back seem scattered given the large cut. No matter how much he healed it, it wouldn't go away, leaving for natural time. Didn't help even the smallest of touches seemed to cause a bit of pain, particularly in the middle of the wound, where his spine was. The wound to his pride was also big. The team may have defeated the beast form, but couldn't even kill Ganon. The fact he even needed help didn't sit well with his self-esteem, not helped by being bested by Vegeta.

So he'll be around places with his trusty demonic dog Cerberus. His main few visits are limited though, going only to the battledome for some training, fighting against some random demons from his world, the clothing shop to hopefully get something to help cover the scar, and the smithy to gain some new gear. The battle with Ganon left his weapons broken, all of them. Hopefully nothing would impede any of that....]

Clothes' Shop:

[Naoki was only in here browsing at the moment, eyes scanning for something worth using. His hands wave through a bunch of shirts, frowning. There were times that lousy horn would get in the way and destroy his shirts, so he needed something that could be buttoned. Even as he searched those though, he didn't quite know what to pick. He wasn't usually picky about it, but none of them were quite his style. Annoying at any rate.]

Battle Dome:

[Scar or not, Naoki was training, currently against a few of the creatures Ganon cooked up, virtual ones of course, back when the madman decided to attack. They were good punching bags at any rate, and he didn't wish to deny himself of any more training than necessary. Eventually though, one does get lucky, striking at his back. He growls fiercely, turning around and punching the creature viciously. The scar still hurt, but why?

At any rate, it is enough motivation to dodge more, pick his blows carefully before returning his punches. All to pass the time till the smithy opened.]

Sokka's Smithy:

[Finally done with that, he walks into the store, looking around. Weapons weren't out in full display, so no free taking then. He sighed.]

Raven? Sokka? You guys in here?

H-hello?

[For this wondering where in the heck Naoki vanished too, there he is...as a seven-year old, and no tattoos. As opposed to the constantly glaring young man who was always angry, or nervous or neutral around people, he looked confused, maybe a bit frightened. Heck, he even has a friggin jacket as opposed to his tattoos. A smile did form on his face though, Cerberus coming into picture and helping his master.]

T-thank you, Kirby! [Cerberus seemed to facepalm after being called that, but Naoki merely laughed and stared at the book.]

So people can here me? Does anyone know where this place is? I'm Naoki Kashima, and I don't know where my parents are and...well, I still have Kirby here with me! Still...I'm worried...

[action]

[Naoki seems to ease out of his fears, riding atop of Cerberus and carrying a jar of bugs, aka his Magatama. He is smiling at least, cheering Cerberus as the creature kept allowing him to travel all over the place. You might see him just about anywhere, from the blacksmith, to the restaurants, to even the edge of the forest too.]
heavensmostwanted: (facepalm)
[Naoki appears, though he is holding a palm over his face. Compared to the calm and even mean attitude he has shown, he actually looks...embarrassed?]

Listen, about what happened a few weeks ago. Um, if I flirted with you or anything, I uh don't know what the heck happened. Really. So if I made you uncomfortable or anything, sorry.

[There is a bit of a beastly chuckle just as Naoki is about to close the book. He glares at Cerberus away from his journal, blushing.]

S-shut up! It's not like Raven--I mean anyone um...Crap.

[Change topic change topic! Last thing he needs is Isamu teasing him when he was vulnerable.]

Uh, listen, I'll be at the battle dome if anyone wants to train. I heard there were some people who could give me weapons training or something. Is there a guy named Sokka still here? Heard he was decent with a sword or something.

Also, anyone know of any interesting creatures or beings to train with at the battle dome? I would prefer faster foes this time around to work with.
heavensmostwanted: (hand to hand fight)
[Naoki didn't care about the new people, still adjusting to this place and would rather do anything else. Thankfully, he isn't too hard to find, sort of. He'll be either wandering in the forest, taking a nap on the grass in the sun, while Cerberus was used as a pillow, resting comfortably.

Or he'll be at the Battle Dome, practicing his skills against various demons. He's been in there for hours at a time, savagely beating his foes with fists alone. Still, while he is easily knocking them around despite the large numbers, his style and technique is rather low. Offer advice?]

[A kind of familiar face might appear on the network, to those that may have known the last Demi-Fiend or not, or only knew the human known as Naoki Kashima. He stares at the journal in his strangely after activating it. Was this supposed to be some future cellphone? Either way, no choice but to try it out.]

Can anyone hear me? I have questions I wish answered here, if there is anyone. Somehow I doubt no one was responsible for my current predicament.

[Action]

[After getting his questions, Naoki stays behind in the forest. This one chance to enjoy some actual fresh air, no enemies around him, and the warm rays of a sun? Something his human half had longed for. Cerberus seemed to sense his thoughts, lying down on the soft grass. Naoki lowered his guard. If Cerberus didn't sense trouble, then everything was alright for the time being.

He laid down against the large body of Cerberus, wincing at his wings being hurt, but adapting nonetheless. After all that talking, he needed a good recharge. And considering the softness of Cerberus' fur, it was all that much easier to try and relax. Just one hour. That's all he had to waste. Once they were back in action, more answers could be found.]
